LBCC Offers Training for the Oregon Green Technology Certificate

Training for the Oregon Green Technology Certificate will be offered through Linn-Benton Community College beginning June 25.

Oregon Green Tech is a federally funded program designed to prepare entry-level workers with foundational skills for a variety of industries associated with or that support green jobs.

Students will learn skills in green occupations including green energy production; manufacturing, construction, installation, monitoring and repair of equipment for solar, wind, wave and bio-energy; building retro-fitting; process recycling; hazardous materials removal work and others.

Through a combination of on-line instruction, hands-on labs, and, in some areas, fieldwork, students in the program will earn 36-45 credits–depending on the general education and elective courses offered at each college.

Priority deadline to apply for the program is June 15. A number of full scholarships covering the cost of tuition, fees and textbooks are available through the Community Services Consortium’s Workforce and Education Department.

For more information or an application, contact Maggie Underwood at the Community Services Consortium at 541-758-2758.

The program is also eligible for financial aid. To determine if you qualify, you must file a 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and include the LBCC school code 006938. For more information, go to www.linnbenton.edu/go/financial-aid.

LBCC is one of 10 Oregon community colleges to provide training for the Green Technology Certificate, offered through the Oregon Consortium and Oregon Workforce Alliance.
