Rosemary Bennett book signing of "The History of Linn-Benton Community College"

Retired LBCC counselor Rosemary Bennett will hold a book signing for her new book titled The History of Linn-Benton Community College on Wednesday, May 26 at 3 p.m. at the LBCC Library, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

Bennett began her career at LBCC in 1971, just fours years after the college opened, serving as secretary to the director of the Learning Resource Center. In 1975, she moved to the counseling center where she worked as an instructional assistant and later as a counselor for 32 years.

In the fall of 2007, LBCC celebrated its fortieth anniversary, having served some 600,000 students. Bennett tells the story of how early supporters of the college, including local retired realtor Russell Tripp, met the challenge of starting the institution, including the opposition they faced and the support they found in unusual places.

Bennett’s book will be available for purchase at the book signing. Online buying options are available but purchasing the book on-campus through the LBCC Foundation or Bookstore will benefit LBCC Foundation fundraising. Online options include Xlibris, Amazon, Borders, and Barnes and Noble.
